Owen's first soccer game of the spring season was last week. He is no longer in instructional soccer, which means he is playing the whole field with goalies and field positions! It is a huge step up in my opinion, but Owen doesn't seem to mind. He had an awesome first game! We think he even surprised the coach because she caught us afterwards to tell us what an amazing game Owen played. He is an excellent defensive player. His favorite position though is goalie. He begged all four quarters to be goalie. Luckily, the coach shared the position with other players because that is the position that is most stressful for Mom and Dad. The end of the quarter whistle blow is a sigh of relief when your child is in the goalie box.
Our team won, but they don't keep score at this age yet. It looks like it's going to be an exciting season. Mom and Dad need to work on sideline coaching though. We both caught ourselves screaming like crazy people while none of the other parents hardly were, but it is hard to keep quiet when your son is doing an awesome job.
