Owen's 9th Birthday

Owen turned 9 on February 13th during a 5-day school break. We celebrated at home with a chocolate Dairy Queen ice cream cake and an evening at CoCo Key indoor water park with Owen's best friend (no pictures of that unfortunately!).  Birthday gifts this year included lots of science kits, books, and clothes.  Owen is one of my only kids who likes getting new clothes.  Owen is such a smart boy who loves reading and science.  He also loves his Xbox and playing Minecraft.  He enjoys watching silly videos on YouTube and pretend playing the Walking Dead.  He is getter braver with trying new foods although he still loves making his own bowl of ice cream with a fountain of chocolate syrup on top.  Owen loves animals and listening to music on his ipod.  He is creative and enjoys art projects when given the chance.  He is in Cub Scouts and prefers to play just soccer after giving several different sports a try.

Since we had a long break from school, we also celebrated Owen's birthday with a trip to Kansas City while Nathan worked at an annual dealer meeting at our hotel.  Owen is a huge fan of the Waffle House, so that's where we went for breakfast on his birthday since Omaha doesn't have a Waffle House.

While Nathan worked, the kids and I visited one of our favorite museums, Science City, in downtown Kansas City.  It has something for everyone!

After a long day around town, a big highlight of our trip was the amazing hotel suite Nathan hooked us up with.  It was three hotels rooms combined into a giant suite complete with a double door entrance and doorbell.  Three bathrooms made the weekend a breeze!
