The Worst Luck

Trenton has talked about getting a cat for a while, so when a friend was looking for homes for her kittens, we decided to go for it.  All of the kids were in love with this little kitten the minute we picked him up.  He was very social, curious, and a perfect house cat.  He resembled our first cat very much, but with shorter hair.  He particularly loved Owen.  He spent a lot of time sleeping on Owen, which Owen didn't mind at all.  This was a surprise to us since the cat was supposed to be for Trenton.

Sadly, we didn't see this one coming:  Trenton had complained of sneezing a lot at the house where he takes flute lessons the past few weeks.  There just happen to be cats there.  In the back of my mind, I wondered if he was having a reaction to the cats, but Trenton insisted it was no big deal.  Thus, we got the kitten.  Well, everytime the kitten's nails scratched Trenton, it would swell.  His eyes were itchy too...uh,oh.  I hurried and found him an allergist after school less than 24 hours after bringing the kitten home.  Sure enough, the allergy test found that he is highly allergic to cats.  What?!?  How can that happen since we had a cat for the first 8 years of his life?

Luckily, my friend was able to take the kitten back.  Saying good-bye was a little hard for everyone.  Even Dallin still randomly asks me where the "kitty" is.
