4th of July Fun

This year we traveled home (Illinois) for the 4th of July and saw the fireworks in Peoria with Nathan's mom. Owen and Ashleigh were scared of the loud booms they made, so they hid in the van during the show.

Sparkler fun at Great-Grandma's house.

I made giant toy-filled firecrackers for my kids and cousins again this year. They are wrapping paper tubes filled with flags, glow sticks, bubbles, squirt guns, bouncy balls, necklaces, pencils, playdoh, and candy. Their favorite part was the silly string.

I tried to economize this year and purchased our fireworks at the grocery store. Big mistake! The entire box was nothing but smoke bombs that filled my grandmother's whole neighborhood with smoke. Next year we'll pick them up in Indiana like we usually do.
